Meet Our Team
All of our clinicians hold the highest license for their degree and level of training. Murray Center is the elite clinic for psychiatry services, neuropsychological testing, and treatment. We are highly referred to and respected throughout Metro Detroit and Southeast Michigan. We take our reputation seriously and select our providers carefully.
Sarah Murray, Ph.D.
Dr. Murray is the center’s director and founder of the Murray Center for Behavioral Wellness. She is a fully licensed clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist in the state of Michigan. She obtained her Ph.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. She has extensive experience in conducting evaluations for both children and adults for such issues as dyslexia, AD/HD, learning differences, developmental delays, and emotional/behavioral impairments. She is highly experienced in and provides evaluations for “high stakes” testing such as ACT, SAT, and LSAT. Dr. Murray also specializes in evidenced-based treatment for both children and adults, such as Cognitive-Behavioral and ACT therapy, for a range of issues. Dr. Murray completed her APA-approved internship at a residential facility for children and adolescents in the Chicago area and her postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at a private practice in Georgia. Before beginning her full-time private practice career, she was on the medical staff at Beaumont Children’s Hospital as well as Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Murray has conducted and published research involving psychogenic seizures in children. She has presented at both hospitals and schools on such topics as proven treatment and assessment approaches, anxiety, and school-based accommodations for learning differences and AD/HD. Dr. Murray is an active member of the American Psychological Association, the Division for Child and Family Policy and Practice, and the Association of Psychological Science.
Kathryn Combs, Ph.D.
Dr. Combs is Murray Center’s Clinical Director, overseeing our clinical staff. As a first time patient with the Murray Center, she helps you determine best treatment and/or testing goals and the Murray Center service and treatment provider that is right for you. Dr. Combs is a fully licensed psychologist in the state of Michigan. She obtained her Ph.D. from Wayne State University. Dr. Combs has fifteen years of experience as a school psychologist and has expertise in the area of testing. Dr. Combs completed her internship in an intensive crisis residential center, providing therapy to children and adults, including family therapy. She has experience in the hospital setting completing neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessments as well as child and adolescent therapy. Dr. Combs provides both treatment and assessment services at the Murray Center, with special focus in AD/HD, learning disabilities, and anxiety. Dr. Combs is Murray Center’s early childhood specialist, helping parents to increase their children’s positive behaviors and improve the quality of time spent at home as a family. Dr. Combs uses this expertise, consulting with our treatment team regarding Murray Center early childhood patients when necessary. Dr. Combs accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Mary Brennan, Ph.D.
Dr. Brennan is the Murray Center’s director of clinical training. Dr. Brennan supervises our interns and ensures that our patients are receiving the highest quality of care. She is a fully licensed psychologist in the state of Michigan. Dr. Brennan utilizes her vast experience as a prior school psychologist to serve as Murray Center’s Educational Liaison, attending school conferences and assisting with educational support services when needed. She obtained her Ph.D. from Wayne State University. She currently serves as adjunct faculty member at Wayne State University. She has previously worked as a school psychologist supporting at-risk students within the special education system and also has experience in an in-patient setting for children and adolescents. Dr. Brennan completed her internship at a counseling center in Farmington, Michigan providing therapy to children and adults, including family and couples treatment. In addition to her treatment expertise, she has a wide range of evaluation experience in the areas of dyslexia and AD/HD. Dr. Brennan provides both treatment and assessment services at the Murray Center. She specializes in the treatment of depression and anxiety and focuses her evaluation services in the areas of AD/HD and dyslexia. Dr. Brennan accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Ben Delaney, PMHNP-BC
Ben is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). He obtained his master’s degree in Nursing Science from Wayne State University, with a specialty focus on psychiatric-mental health. He completed his psychiatric training at numerous outpatient private practices and clinics across metro Detroit. Ben specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, OCD, and AD/HD. Ben accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Maggie Korn, Ph.D.
Dr. Korn serves as the Murray Center's Director of Patient Outcomes. Dr. Korn carefully selects the providers that are right for you and your needs. She also tracks improvements in your care and periodically checks in with our patients to make sure treatment is successfully and satisfactory. Dr. Korn's treating specialities at the Murray Center include assessment and parent coaching. Dr. Korn is a fully licensed psychologist in Michigan. She is also a nationally certified school psychologist. Dr. Korn earned her Ph.D. from the University of Rhode Island. During her graduate studies, she worked as a disability services student counselor and helped college students access reasonable accommodations while supporting their academic success. Dr. Korn completed her internship at a public school in New York and has worked as a school psychologist in Rhode Island for several years. She has extensive experience conducting neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations for children, adolescents, and college-aged students. Dr. Korn is one of our neuropsychologists and provides parent coaching services at the Murray Center. Dr. Korn accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Lauren Myers, Psy.D.
Dr. Myers is a fully licensed psychologist in the state of Michigan. She serves as our adult intake coordinator, making sure you receive the services you need and are paired with the right clinicians for you. Dr. Myers works hard to ensure that you feel comfortable and informed during your first visit with us. She obtained her Psy.D. from the University of Indianapolis and a certificate in neuropsychology from Ball State University. Dr. Myers completed her internship at Jane Pauley Community Health Centers in Anderson, Indiana providing therapy and evaluation services to children and adults. She has experience providing therapy services in a medical setting as well as completing neuropsychological and diagnostic assessments. She also has experience completing psychoeducational assessments and therapy services in the school system. Dr. Myers provides both therapy and assessment services at the Murray Center for a wide range of issues. Dr. Myers accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Katie Ellstrom, DNP, PMHNP-BC
Dr. Ellstrom is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Michigan State University with a concentration in psychiatric care. Throughout her career and training, Dr. Ellstrom has treated patients in a variety of settings throughout the metro Detroit area. She prides herself in taking a patient-centered, collaborative approach and enjoys treating patients of all ages. Dr. Ellstrom accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Emily Lemke, LMSW
Emily is a fully licensed clinical social worker. She received her Masters of Social Work with a school specialization from Loyola University Chicago, and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Wayne State University. Emily's experience and scope of practice is broad. She has worked as a bilingual-therapist in community mental health with high-risk populations in both Denver and Chicago, providing individual, family, and group therapy. Since returning to Michigan in 2018, Emily has worked as a therapist in a private group-practice and has provided clinical supervision to limited licensed social workers. Emily takes a client-centered, relational approach, and utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), aspects of dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and other evidenced-based practices. She is skilled in working with individuals across the lifespan, though is particularly passionate about supporting adolescents as they navigate the many challenges this developmental stage can bring. She remains non-judgemental, curious and compassionate in her approach and believes in the importance of having a sense of humor. With her education and early career experiences based in school-social work, she is well versed in the navigation and collaboration with schools and academic settings, and providing related parental support.

Cassidy Slade, Psy.D.
Dr. Slade is a fully licensed psychologist in the state of Michigan. She obtained her Psy.D. from the Michigan School of Psychology and has experience working with adolescents, teens, and adults in various levels of psychiatric care. Taking an interpersonal approach, Dr. Slade believes that one of the most important avenues for positive change is through a positive therapeutic relationship. Dr. Slade’s clinical experience is diverse. She completed her doctoral internship at Linden Oaks Behavioral Health, located in Naperville, Illinois, where she worked with adolescents and teens at the inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care. Through her work with Linden Oaks, she provided crisis intervention, ran Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills groups, communicated with schools to ensure a seamless transition back to school and completed family sessions to ensure a safe and supportive transition to home. Dr. Slade’s clinical interests include anxiety, depression, coping with past trauma, grief/loss, interpersonal concerns, and life transitions. Jaylen Gavie, LLP
Jaylen completed her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Wayne State University. Jaylen received her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Health Promotion. Jaylen has over six years of experience working with children, adolescents, and their families in various settings among those providing applied behavior analysis (ABA) with children who have autism. Jaylen completed her clinical internships at Wayne State University’s Mental Health and Wellness Clinic and Children’s Hospital of Michigan providing therapeutic services to children and their families both through telehealth and in-person. Jaylen is extremely passionate about early intervention and exploration of emotions, as well as taking a person-center, humanitarian approach to help families using evidenced-based care. Lindsey Bixler, AGPCNP-BC
Lindsey is a board certified Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. Lindsey's scope involves the majority of the lifespan, from ages 13 and on. Lindsey is a double-bachelors, double-masters who completed her nurse practitioner program at the University of Michigan. Lindsey completed her undergraduate at Michigan State University, leaving her torn between the blue and the green. Lindsey believes in treating the whole person. She has extensive experience in evidenced-based integrative medicine. Lindsey's philosophy and approach to medicine is based on the idea that patients should have a say in their care and she prioritizes your values and needs in making sure you get the treatment that feels right for you. During her time at U of M, Lindsey was brought on to teach NP courses, was nominated to represent the Research, Scholarship, and Innovation Symposium Planning Committee, and served as a graduate mentor and guest speaker. Lindsey has also served as Ambassador of the College of Nursing and received an award for outstanding clinical work. Lindsey's past clinical work includes an extensive rotation at Promedica Toledo Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery. Lindsey is the clinical director of the Murray Center's BestU clinic, focusing on weight loss and integrative care.
Robert Sheehan, LLP
Robert completed his master’s degree at Wayne State University’s Counseling Psychology program. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Michigan State University, and worked as a behavioral technician at Havenwyck Hospital for three years. Robert works well with adolescents, particularly those struggling with depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Robert is involved in suicide research at Wayne State, and works primarily from an existential and ACT perspective when providing counseling services. Robert accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Sally Kafelghazal, TLLP
Dr. Sally Kafelghazal TLLP obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Kafelghazal specializes in the whole family, working with both children and parents. Prior to joining the Murray Center, she worked with family services agencies, foster care services, and homeless shelters. She also provided individual, family, and group therapy in an outpatient setting. Additionally, Dr. Kafelghazal has extensive experience conducting neuropsychological evaluations with children and adolescents. She has published works in multiculturalism and mental health and has taught at the college level in early childhood development. Dr. Kafelghazal accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Erin Horne, LLMSW
Erin Horne received her master's degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Behavioral and Biological Sciences from the University of Michigan. After working in the realm of research, policy analytics, and public health, Erin went on to pursue a career in clinical counseling. Erin has extensive experience in suicide prevention through her work at the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. She has also worked in both emergency and inpatient psychiatric units at Henry Ford Health System. She is particularly interested in the bidirectional influence of stress and mental health on one's overall well-being. Erin conducts individual and family therapy at the Murray Center for our teens and adults. She utilizes evidenced-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing with a philosophy rooted in humanism and empowerment to help her patients build resilience, make healthy choices, and overcome barriers. . Erin specializes in anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. Erin accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield.
LaKenya Johnson, Ph.D., LLP
LaKenya obtained her master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Wayne State University, where she is also serving as an Adjunct Faculty member. LaKenya has worked in perinatal mental health with Michigan Medicine, where she provided individual and group therapy to mothers during pregnancy and postpartum. LaKenya has experience providing individual therapy to teens and adults as well as crisis management services to at-risk populations using various treatment modalities. Her research experience includes exploring the experiences of Black women during the perinatal period, the impact of support groups in destigmatizing mental health, and the importance of utilizing culturally competent practices. LaKenya conducts individual therapy at the Murray Center for late teens through adults. She uses a combination of evidence-based treatments while providing a warm and inviting space for patients to navigate their experiences freely.

Amy Orlando is the Murray Center director of marketing and development. She graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Elementary Education and spent nine years as a classroom teacher before starting her family. Amy became deeply involved in her school community, contributing her time as event planner and marketer fro various groups and activities. Now, as the Director of Marketing and Development, Amy is thrilled to be utilizing her skills to expand the Murray Center message ands impact, providing new opportunities and resources to enrich the lives of our families.

Kim Whelan, A.GS
Kim Whelan has an associate's degree in general studies. She is the Murray Center director of finances. Kim has a diverse background in office administration and management. As a long-time employee of Beaumont Hospital, Kim has extensive experience in billing, scheduling, and customer relations. Kim will help you to understand and assist with your insurance questions. Kim prides herself on being transparent with our patients about their insurance, our costs, and our payment procedures. Kim also helps our new patients with the process of scheduling their first appointment and understanding what to expect and what services are available to them. She will help you with any questions you have and enjoys getting to know all of our patients!
Devon Gardner, B.A.
Devon Gardner works in our customer service department and welcomes all patients to the Murray Center. Devon received her bachelor's degree in Human Resources from Grand Valley State. She has worked as executive assistant at Quicken for the chief learning officer and chief diversity officer. Devon has experience in administration, recruiting, event planning, and marketing. In her spare time, Devon enjoys traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with her dog, Sunny and her cat, Charlie. At the Murray Center, Devon will work with you to make sure your visits with us are easy and comfortable! She is an advocate for our patients, making sure you are in the know and that all of your questions and concerns are addressed. As a patient advocate, Devon strives to meet your needs and make sure the process is as welcoming, transparent, and informative as possible! While Devon is scheduling your visits with us she will also help you navigate our entire facility so that you feel a part of the Murray Center family.
