LaKenya Johnson, LLP

LaKenya obtained her master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Wayne State University, where she is also serving as an Adjunct Faculty member. LaKenya has worked in perinatal mental health with Michigan Medicine, where she provided individual and group therapy to mothers during pregnancy and postpartum. LaKenya has experience providing individual therapy to teens and adults as well as crisis management services to at-risk populations using various treatment modalities. Her research experience includes exploring the experiences of Black women during the perinatal period, the impact of support groups in destigmatizing mental health, and the importance of utilizing culturally competent practices. LaKenya conducts individual therapy at the Murray Center for late teens through adults. She uses a combination of evidence-based treatments while providing a warm and inviting space for patients to navigate their experiences freely. LaKenya accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield.
